By Kate Egerton

Kate Egerton will talk about the roles quilts play in American
literature, both as a subject for stories, plays, and poems and as
surfaces on which we write.
Kate Egerton reads and writes both stories and quilts in Madison
County, Kentucky. She is a quilter, a quilt collector, and an
Assistant Professor in the department of English, Theatre, and
Speech Communication at Berea College. A graduate of Luther
College in Decorah, Iowa, she earned her M.A. and Ph.D. in English
at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Dr.
Egerton teaches writing, drama, and literature at Berea College, and
has a particular interest in the role of textiles as templates for
