Kentucky Quilt Registry

by the Kentucky Heritage Quilt Society

Saturday, August 2nd

10 am-3 pm

Woods-Penniman Building on the Berea College Campus (See map) - No Charge

Your quilts will be photographed, a physical analysis made, and biographical data about the quiltmaker obtained. Have as much of the following information as possible ready at the registration: the quiltmaker’s name and date of birth, date and place of marriage, date of death and burial site, spouse’s name, parent’s name with dates of birth, death and city or country of origin.

The data collected will be forwarded to the Folklife Archives and the Kentucky Heritage Quilt Society web site at Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green. This information is available for scholarly research and is invaluable to quilt historians, folklorists, genealogists and those interested in social history, especially women’s studies.

A muslin label, containing the registration number and ready to sew to the back of the registered quilt may be obtained for a nominal fee. Quilts made in Kentucky before 1960 or quilts made elsewhere during the same time period and now owned by Kentuckians may be registered.
