Dream Roles: Classic Roles Reimagined for Actors 65+

  • Berea Arts Council 444 Chestnut St. Berea United States (map)

Deborah Martin (Professor of Theatre, Berea College) will direct an evening of staged readings based on her Kentucky Arts Council-funded project, Dream Roles, which features older (aged 65+) performers. Due to their age and/or physical abilities, these actors may not normally have access to such performance opportunities. This production reimagines classic theatrical roles through the voices and experiences of this population to provide a wider understanding of the texts' meaning and contemporary relevance.

Berea College Theatre has been awarded an Arts Access Assistance Grant through a program of the Kentucky Arts Council, the state arts agency, which is supported by state tax dollars and federal funding from the National Endowment for the Arts.
