The Berea Arts Council is excited to announce a call for art for the Community Art Show: Appalachia 2025. This opportunity is open to all artists from Madison and the surrounding Appalachian counties, regardless of their background or experience. We welcome diverse artistic interpretations and encourage artists to share their unique perspectives. We invite submissions that creatively and meaningfully explore contemporary Appalachia, challenging conventional perceptions.
To submit your artwork, please follow the specific submission process outlined below. Artists can submit work in any medium or style (excluding digital or video formats), and both 2D and 3D pieces are welcome. Artists can submit up to 2 pieces at no cost. The Berea Arts Council reserves the right to make final decisions on the submissions.
Participating in our Community Art Exhibit: Appalachia 2025 provides an opportunity to showcase your art in a professional gallery setting, gain exposure, and potentially sell your work. Please ensure that all artwork complies with our gallery system requirements: 2D pieces should be framed with a wire mounted one-third down the back to keep the hook hidden, and all 2D and 3D pieces should include the artist's name and contact information on the back or bottom of the work.

In Human Form - Juried Exhibit
August 6th – September12th Accepting submissions until July 1st
The Berea Arts Council announces a call for art for the juried exhibit, In Human Form, open to all Kentucky artists. We encourage a diverse range of artistic interpretations beyond the traditional nude. Images that explore the human form in a way that is both artistic and meaningful, pushing the boundaries of conventional perceptions. Any media or styles (except for digital or video), 2D or 3-D, representing the human form in whole or part, natural or symbolic, including, but not limited to, realism, abstraction, expressionism, etc., is welcomed. Berea Arts Council reserves the right to have the final word on the work presented. Artists are welcome to submit up to 2 pieces at $10 per piece ($20 for two pieces.) This is waived for BAC members. Payments can be made using the link below or in our gallery;
all submissions must have a current membership or completed payment to be considered.
We have assembled a panel of esteemed jurors-Mary Rezny, Nathan Zamarron, and Melissa Vandenberg for this prestigious exhibition. Mary is a renowned photo mixed-media artist. She is an adjudicated Kentucky Crafted artist and a Kentucky Foundation for Women grant recipient. Nathan, a respected leader in the arts, has worked at LexArts for 17 years as the Community Arts Director. He designs arts programming and organizes murals and public art in Lexington, KY. Nathan now serves as VP of LexArts. LexArts is hailed as one of Lexington's premier visual arts galleries. Melissa is a multidisciplinary artist, educator, and curator teaching at Eastern KY University and Director of the EKU Giles Gallery. Her work has been exhibited throughout the United States and six countries. They each bring their wealth of experience and discerning eye to the selection process. They will review all submissions and select the works that best represent the theme and artistic excellence, ensuring a fair and professional selection process.
